Personally I can't be doing with the 4 knots limit on rivers so I head down to Poole from the Midlands to use my Bombard. You can still get a good day out even with the traveling, inflating, etc. The nice thing about Poole is that you are straight into lovely scenery rather than seeing loads of industrial/ commercial stuff.

i hear ya on the speed limit, but i guess it can be hard to tell if no one else is around .... poole do you head towards the marina or harbour or is there a better launching place? .... i would love to find a pay by play in the midlands .. i nearly wet myself when kingsbury powerboat club said it`s over £500 lolol it`s a 9.8 old merc not a speedboat ... though i do want more juice but want to watch the weight as i would like to do some sites in me caravan too

Hi I am also in the Midlands and go to Poole and Portsmouth as its a nice easy run form where we are.
Even with a 5.35 rib its a easy run.
We use Camber dock in Portsmouth good parking and launching is easy there but a little steep but nothing you should not be able to handle.
In portsnouth we use Baiter by the part there. Good acces but was busy.
quite a shallow slip but still got in and out with no issues.

Go through Evesham, just before the bridge (after the garage on your right) theres a field where you can drive to within 20 yards of the river, there a slip there you can use, cant get a trailer in there because its a locked gate at the top the slip. I just reversed the car upto the gate and unloaded the boat over the gate.

On Poole, i find this is the nearest and most suitable place to launch as well, with no speed limits ( outside of the harbour). I use a launch site near Rockly Park, not a slip but great for a sib with launch wheels, its at the end of lake road, Hamworthy

Evesham slip here

Stratford?

In case you are interested in going to Stratford; I am attaching a map for you. A nice and FREE car park, an easy place to launch a boat (not with Trailer) and you have access to loads of places and restaurants in Stratford upon Avon.

hey vandad i really love stratford 30 min away from nuneaton, i normaly park up in the avon boating carpark and use their slipway (i get on well with the lads and always pay my way) though they never charge me for slipway use so £2 a day+£4 parking and fuel a really cheap day out
i`ve found the only problem are the rowers who are a complete menace to the water, so we usually go out of stratford past that other car park and just past the caravan park, spin around and back down into the town for a picnic and icecream.. miami vice it is not but a really ace day out for peanuts
Other Characters this is a really lovely sight right on the avon.. they do statics and have some small moorings for a smaller boat

I also launch at Poole from Lake Road. It has a width and height limit of 6ft 9in, but that is ok for SIB's and it's free. There are no speed limits on the main channels in the harbour from October to the end of March, which means you don't even need to leave the harbour to have a lot of fun.
