Mice, rats & other nibblers...

So I've heard horror stories of mice and rats having a go at peoples' SIBs and being that I live in a rural area the critters are just a fact of life. Every winter they move into the garage where I store all my boating stuff and every summer they move out.

I've tried traps, poison, ultrasonic deterrent, etc. to no avail...

Making it critter proof is pretty impossible without major expense/work.

So... what do you do to make sure your SIB doesn't become nest material?

This is my latest solution but by heck it's hard to hoist up there and I think the system is only rated to 25kg...

(sorry, can't seem to rotate the image)

Keep the garage clean and don't store birdseed in an open sack. I lost a SIB that way. Ironically, it had been stored in a barn for years with no problems, then I moved it to a suburban garage...

I've said it before but we have decades of experience storing stuff easily damaged by mice in sheds/garages both old and new.... including the need to store feedstuffs adj.

There is one simple answer... a good cat!

A good Cat is hard to find!and (people tend to feed em too much theses days!) and can't be on duty 24/7 including holidays ....
I Put down plenty of Bait/Rat poison.....( you'll soon notice if it's being eaten ) the Base of walls and in corners especially works best
