hi all
I am considering buying this motor but the seller does not know the year, it has been a sailing school rescue boat engine impeccably maintained and is up for £400, are they good engines and is the price fair?? its never been used in saltwater apparantly. wanted to go on my bombard c4. it looks like an old model to me but if there good ill go for it
thanks in advance
Neil

sounds a good price if it runs sweat (which it should) and has a good service record to boot..... They are quality engines, usually sound quiet and smooth for a 2 smoke...

thanks for the reply's gents, is it easy getting spares for this engine these days and will I have to drill holes in my transom to fit or will it have the lugs to tighten up against my metal transom plate (cannot see via pics ). apologies if any of my terms are incorrect for this as its the first engine for a boat I have ever bought.
is there any particular thing I need to look at weakness wise.it starts fine, runs forward and reverse etc but the carb is flooding as the gent who is elderly states its been sat for a long while and has placed the motor in a marine shop for a carb clean and tune.
think I am good to go with this but had been in two minds to go with a newer model engine.
will the resale value stand at this price if I decide to sell in a season or two.
thanks in advance for all your help
