Low cost Futura inflation pressure testing

My cheap digital tyre pressure monitor has given up the ghost (I merely had a bicycle schrader valve attached to a plastic tube which slotted into the valve).

Having done some searching on the web for a replacement, I noticed that many LCD tyre pressure gauges only operate above 5psi but I want to measure 1-3.5 psi (since the Futura performance badly suffers from being under inflated).

Various online chandlers do sell analogue air pressure gauges, but the postage costs seemed unreasonable (typically £5-7), however for the princely sum of £7 (delivered) - I have sourced a replacement gauge which doesn't require a battery :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=310066877084

I will of course have to connect it to a short length of tube which has a nail inserted about 3/8" from the bottom (to open the valve) - but I already have that from the old arrangement.

Hope this is useful to someone !

Here in Canada I found Sevylor PG. It has screw-in head with adapters for 3 different valves. Cost is $11

Sadly £13.76 plus £5.75 postage versus the $11 Sevylor gauge or my £7 DIY attempt ...

If you still want to use the schrader valve thingy go to a motorcycle shop and buy a low pressure , pressure guage , same as an ordinary guage just reads accurate at low psi .
they sell tham for checking off road tyres and suspension pressures , a shop that deals with dirt bikes may be your best bet .

Sorry if this is obvious but how do you connect the schrader bike valve to your inflatable valve?

Hmmm - a google for "off road tyre pressure gauge" brought up http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/produc...code=I/C360045 - but it seemed a little expensive

I'll keep hunting - that's why I like this forum - lots of ideas !

Warning - poor attempt at ASCII art :

Left hand side is the zodiac valve with my plastic tube inserted. Right hand side is the schrader valve glued into the top (right hand side) of the plastic tube. You merely insert the tube into the futura valve (and the schrader valve holds the pressure) and then press your digital tyre gauge onto the schrader valve to measure the air pressure (or you would if my digital gauge hadn't stopped working !).

Ignore previous post, after placing order including destination they sent an email asking for another $10 for postage.
I have cancelled the order and they have refunded.

I can honestly say that I buy a lot fron the states and have never had this problem before.
I will not be dealing with them again
