You won't get a NEW 4m rib for that money?

I want it to cruise the local river and get it into bays on the East Coast of England.

Value your thoughts on best packages open to me for that price, and experiences of the type of boating I will be doing.
I think it probably won't be long before you are wishing you had got a bigger engine. Personally if I was constrained to 2k - i'd be tempted to look at nearly new SIB with engines big enough to get on the plane (probably 15 HP for that size of boat).

Thanks for the response - given me food for thought - happy to look at 2nd hand boats but not seeing much about at present - without being a pain - any idea best sites to look at for these I am looking at most of the favored sites but wondered if there was a site out there that I was missing

I have the Honwave IE 3.8 + Honda 20HP and IMHO it is an excellent, robust and steady boat.

Many people in the boating community view these SIBS as glorified tenders which is a load of rubbish. I bet I spend more time on the water than most of the owners of a bigger vessel. When I go down the Hamble River on a nice day most of them appear to spend their entire weekends sodding about cleaning, painting, launching or rigging sails.

My little SIB takes 5 minutes to launch from trailer to water and back again...and that’s alone... with two adults up I have done some great all day trips 30 miles + and apart from the deep ocean I go where most of the bigger boats go along the coast and better – and all on a fraction of the cost of a bigger boat.

If I see a nice beach I simply land – flip the transom wheels and have a picnic.

I would not rate it as a bottomless pit either, once you have the kit – life jackets, flares, VHF apart from fuel, engine service and launching fees that is pretty much it.

Or my Bombard Aerotec 380 with a Mariner 25hp 2-stroke. It's on at 2,500 but I'm happy to haggle.

It's got to go as I'm picking something else up tomorrow!

Yes I think it cost me about 15 for launch fees plus parking for the car and trailer. The harbour master/official was a really great bloke with good advice.
