Looking for a 5m SIB with 50/60 hp and tiller steer to rent/borrow for a day.

Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a 5m SIB with a 50-60hp engine and tiller steering that could be utilised for a day? I am wanting to use the boat to give coaching to a couple of people who drive commercially but need this specific boat setup.

Any leads would be much appreciated.

Sounds like the drivers you will be coaching will operating in a wide variety of water conditions, such as coastal areas, rivers & lakes. I am guessing these drivers will either be transporting divers or transferring cargo such as drums from shorelines to large ships.

Am I close?

In any case, a SIB of ~5m with a tiller operation set up sounds like the most practical & versatile set up for maximizing usable space. Tiller operation also makes far more sense for a boat of this size and power (or under) if you need to navigate through tricky/dangerous water conditions.

You are somewhat close. My background is the Expedition Cruise world. I have a few thousand miles running zodiacs in various corners of the world, from the ice of the Antarctic to reefs of Pacific...transporting guests ashore, or taking them on coastal cruises. Always fun in big ocean swells, have even done it up to a force 7! Lots of bringing boats into beaches in exciting conditions.

Anyway, so I have some friends who are just starting their careers...have done their RYA training, but are needing some more practical guidance that is industry specific (driving standing up, handling the bigger engine etc. etc) I I offered to try and share some of my experience and insights, if we can only find a suitable boat.

So do you have a commercial background too?

Ha ha ha...but very true! However, the Inside Passage is just under 1000 miles of some of the best water in the world, running between Seattle (and Vancouver just to the North) to Skagway Alaska. If you ever want the best cruising, it is remarkable. Whales, bears, mountains, forests, glaciers and just about everything else you might ever want!
