Launch wheels again .....sorry

Hi, I am new to forum and have recently acquired a quicksilver 340 air deck and Yamaha 15hp 2 stroke for mainly fishing and pottering about. I am about to buy some launch wheels but the more I read the more undecided I get as to which ones to buy.
I am really wanting to do it right first time and avoid re drilling the transom if I buy unsuitable wheels to start.
With that in mind has anybody used the curved Pacermarine ones I am veering towards. Launching wise will be more often over shingle and and a mixture of soft and hard sand.

INFLATABLE TENDER LAUNCHING DINGHY WHEELS S/S NEW | eBay

All advice welcomed.

Cheers
Mick

Hi Mick, welcome.

They will be OKish on that surface (I launch on pretty much the same type) but having tried both the sand hopper type wheels work much better IME.

They're OK if you aren't pulling the SIB to far.

Thanks for the reply gents, unfortunately at times it is quite a way so maybe need something stronger.
I take on board the sand hopper wheels suggestion Max, and maybe look for some with these or maybe swap to these if possible later on.
The home made ones look good but I would hate to buy all the gear and end up making a dogs a..e of them, and end up buying some ready built anyway.

Just my opinion but...

Over the last ten years I've had almost every combination of transom wheel types/makes on different SIBs... from home made to £250 Zodiac ones.

We often trundle the SIB a fair way down the road, over kerbs and down unmade slipways so strength is very important. I have seen photos of budget wheel legs snapping off and leaving a very sharp end threatening tube damage.

What I have now is what I think is the best. They are the Trem type that are rated to 180kg (as opposed to the similar looking Trem ones rated to 100kg). They cost about £140-150 a set and are the type Honda are happy to sell with their own label on.

Their folding mechanism locks into place up and down better than many and there are no pins to insert (just a pair of pins to remove if you take them right off). Importantly they have the extra support "button" low on the transom which a lug engages into giving them great strength (hence the increased weight capacity).

Finally when you pack the boat away they leave a very small bracket which I just place a small piece of sponge over to totally ensure there could be no damage to the tube material.

They are these here... http://www.rib.net/forum/attachment....9&d=1428739114

I have these fitted to my Honwave 3.5 AE . No issues but I've had handles welded on to make them easier to push down in the water and lift them.Click image for larger version

Mine are the same as Paddlers. I only ever put the wheels up or down by standing in the water behind the boat and it's easy to do that way.

I tend to motor out a bit with mine still down, the buoyancy of the wheels tends to keep them on the tab. Then I was pushing them down with an oar so I thought I'd try this, the handles sit just above the transom in the up position.

Yep understand if you were flipping them on the water the handles would be a real advantage.

Well made bit of kit and easy to fit with the stick on template supplied.
Personally hate attacking a perfectly good transom with a drill bit so was happy enough with the purchase.
