Just back from an awesome week on the Dart.

Not been there for two years and it still remains my SIB Heaven. Love the place. Super SIB friendly and lots to see and do up river or down and out to sea. There is nothing like simply walking off to your SIB each morning left moored at Dittisham quay overnight - just like a real boat! No inflating, unloading, launching. Just pootling down to Dartmouth in the early morning sun watching the river come to life.

We had some great trips round to Brixham, Start Point, Blackpool Sands etc and up to Totnes as well as lots of pootling about the harbour. Aerotec and 15 Merc awesome as ever. PS: there was another Aerotec at the double steps pontoon one day - anyone here?

Glad it went well Max, great pics. We are just a few weeks away from our South Devon hols and very much looking forward like you to have in the Aerotec ready to use each day. Not on a pontoon in our case but in the front garden just one house away from a near private slip.

We hope to be visiting Torbay and Brixham but not as far round as Start Point... which I remember from my teens sailing back from Guernsey to Dartmouth in the dark knowing we were nearly back when rough water off Start Point threw everyone out of bed.

Ahh right - yes, a little too far onto Dartmouth etc from there - we've been as far as Torquay and would like to get to Salcombe but maybe a bit too far in one hit without company.

Teignmouth to Brixham is a fair few NM's hugging the coast as it is.

Teignmouth to Brixham is only about 40 minutes max if you go straight across the bay from Thatchers rock.

At the double steps? I saw you checking the different set ups but did not stop to chat, maybe next time? Yours looked very shiny and new.

I'll be working in dartmouth in a week or two's time, might take the aerotec down with me. The dart is great sibbing territory but I want to head out to sea, it was too rough last time I was there.

You'll be fine, the Aerotec boldly goes where the big boys play and other SIBs fear to venture!

One year we need to arrange a big meet up down there and do some longer trips (ie the longer coastal hugging variety) in SIB convoy to Salcombe or whatever.

I plan to start on the dart at galmpton creek and head right round to torquay. Taking my folding bicycle with me and rather than motoring all the way back I'll park the boat at broadsands, cycle back to collect the van and pick the boat out at broadsands.

Sounds like a great idea

Yeah just bought her recently and that run was our maiden voyage. We had stopped at Galmpton caravan park and left the Aerotec inflated and ready in the boat yard at Galmpton. Lovely spot! Only issue to consider for me was limited access of 2hrs either side of HW. Apologise for the lack of chat. Keeping one eye on the kids was probably why. (Getting them used to being around jetties etc)

Great stuff! What engine did you have and how are you getting on with the boat?

If interested in set-up this might be handy:

Also, if the freeloading dirty scummy ******* travelling fraternity are camped in the carpark, your boat may not be there when you return with your van.....

My advice would be leave it in Paignton harbour, and go get the van. Bit longer but more gentle ride to Galmpton, safer, and easier recovery of boat.

Max re Dittisham…

As far as I can see the pontoon is free but for so many hours. Did you pay extra to be on there for a few days or just wing it.

Also is it super busy there near the pub with non-boaters/crabbing etc?
