Inflatable anchor

Hi all I have a 3m yam300s with a tohatsu 9.8 on
Could any body advise me on what weight anchor
I would need & rope thickness fishing in around
60f of water thanks. Darren

For rope I would recommend having 3 times the max depth you are going to anchor in. Myself I carry 320ft with 15ft of chain, and a heavier anchor than you would need, which is a Danforth. I would recommend 3 meters of chain for you boat, and the anchor type depends on the bottom terrain, and the topside condition. So what are they? Those cheesy folding grapnel anchors would be okay if you never leave your boat alone while at anchor, but they are not to be trusted.

What sort of anchor?
Folding Grapnel? Probably the only easy thing to carry in a SIB but also the least efficient anchor design available.
You need at least 3x depth so 180ft - 8mm plait would probably be fine (5x if leaving at anchor overnight). Plus you need chain 6mm is probably thick enough. As for length - answers seem to vary. Some people say 3x depth which would sink your boat!! I think that may be for leaving overnight - you'd never pcik to anchor in 60ft overnight I suspect... For a SIB if you were to anchor and go ashore you'd probably only need to have enough depth for the tidal range and a few feet spare.

I seem to recall boat length mentioned before so 3m of chain ? Also seen twice the expected wave height mentioned some places.

Using 10ft of chain sounds about right to me. Stopping for lunch in a shallow beach you'd want all the chain out (chain on tubes is bad!) which means you'd be in 3ft of water minimum... To allow for swing on an average beach you probably need deeper (I'd say the place I sail at most often 3ft depth is about 15ft from the water edge so if you were to swing towards the shore with 10ft of chain out that only leaves 5ft behind you which is less than the boat is so you'd get bashed by the waves...

More chain or heavier hcain may make up for a rubbish anchor... But beware of making it too long or you can't anchor in shallower water without chain over the tube.
