How much will you get yours out this year?

I got Little Nelly on the water on Wednesday for the first time this year. I fitted new padded benches to her over the winter. Had a 2 hour blast along the coast at Teignmouth and a pootle up the estuary. Felt good to be back on the water!

Hoping to get her out a couple of times a week this season. Click image for larger version

Only a few months now before we'll be seeing that view... looking forward to it.

Very different usage from us with a round trip of 180mls to the nearest coast.

This year I reckon up to 14 days on our holidays then probably only once a month for the months of the season either side... perhaps twice in some months.

For us that's where the SIB wins... nothing of any size to store and minimal costs when not being used.... but when you get to the coast you're out on the water not looking out from the pontoon wishing you had a boat.

Hopefully at least as much as last year which was around 250 hrs on my boat and probably around another 50+ on other boats (engine hours).

Ours still bagged up but spent the morning at the beach with the kids and it was lovely. No faffing with a boat up and down the beach just relaxing on the pebbles - weirdest neap tide though, never seen such a lack of movement in the water.

...pretty much every time the tides and weather allow down here in north devon... been doing a lot of coast walks this winter and found a few wild camping spots accessible only from the sea. Hope to do lundy a couple of times too and possibly south wales.

Hard to say for me. Did OK last year but that just sets the bar for this season. Mooring renewed last weekend so afloat and ready to reive and pillage in short order - owners of wee offshore islands be warned...

Make sure you have plenty of fuel onboard if you plan to pillage this island, watch out for spears too!!!

First trip out on Saturday from Fowey, Out to Cannis rock, was a bit choppy and wind was getting up so followed the tide up to Lostwithiel. Floated some of the way up to enjoy the tranquility. great to be back out, engine fully serviced and everything working as it should.

Looking forward to this year. Back problems have kept me off the water since early December, well on the mend now.
Should get out next week on the F-Rib 360 for easy launch and retrieve single handed. This will be my frequent short trip boat from now but when I want to go for half day or longer trips it will be my Smartwave 480 and Yam 60. It's also an easy launch for one but a bit of a faff without someone to deal with the car and trailer while I get set up on the boat. Easy beach launch at all tide states but no jetty to tie to, strong flow in and out at Ferryden Montrose and hard packed beach so not sure I'd trust an anchor on the beach!
Off to Etive 1st - 4th May (F-Rib) and Norfolk Broads in Sept for a full week. The rest of the time it depends on 1. Wife 2. The Dogs 3. the weather!!
Happy season to all.
Mike

My plans are to visit the bishop, monarch and shiant islands, all off the outer hebridies. They look amazing islands but it's an effort to get there, as always the weather will have a big part to play
