Honwave T38 transom strength

Hi All,

I am thinking of upgrading my engine from a Mercury 9.9hp to a 20hp but a bit worried about getting it on and off the boat. Will the transom on the Honwave T38 be strong enough to leave the engine on the boat whilst in transit?
I've also noticed that the bottom of the boat is looking worn where I'm pulling the boat on and off the bunks, would it be suitable to put rollers on the trailer as I'm finding it difficult launching and retrieving the boat on my own?
Thanks

I have always appreciated the Honwave transom strength so would have no worries going up to a 20hp. Just make sure you have trailer support right under the transom and consider a generic or DIY transom saver arrangement to stop the OB bouncing.

What material are your bunk surfaces? Bunks are usually best for SIBs.

Of course this will be slightly worse with a 20HP. By coincidence after this year's holiday just gone we have decided to go the other way and downshift our 20HP to a 9.9/9.8 now our set up (non-trailer) is a solo job for me. That extra stone in weight of my OB over the 10HP group just makes it uncomfortable to manhandle in/out of the car.

i float mine off always have, i change the whole hub on each wheel each year and carry two spares cost £15 each saves my back and boat. i always jack the trailer up and spin the wheels to check for bearing wear each trip. as fenlander says rollers are ok for short runs but bunks are best with a transom pad to support the engine and a ratchet strap to stop the engine bouncing i set mine on shallow drive and strap up at that also put two straps from the engine front to stop the engine slewing.

is the wear whilst traveling or just pulling the boat off dry.
whilst traveling it needs not to move around & pulling off try floating off

I leave my Suzuki 20hp on all day long with no issues just make sure that you stop it from bouncing and jobs a good one
