So I guess that means I shouldn't really use it to talk to other boaters?
Get yur self licenced sooner rather than l8r. Your lack of licence means when something is not quite 100% right but not yet completely peet-tong you will be cautious about using the VHF to tell anyone. If it then goes peet-tong it might be a much more serious situation. Licence will cost less than most of the nobbers on here blow on fuel in a day...

Might see you both tomorrow - heading to Stornaway for the week via Tayvallich and Mallaig.
Hope to run down to Castlebay by friday and then home.

Should be there around 1.00pm (stop off at Craighouse on way)
Plan to have a cycle around -perhaps a few beers.
Have booked in the night at Auchenbeag.

We took the boat out today and ended up at Tayvallich, we had something to eat at the shop/restaurant near to the public moorings.
I have to say it was a lovely place to stop, helped of course by the perfect weather today.
We were there between about 2pm and 3pm, we will be going again during the week.

The Tohatsu 9.8 performed well, at WOT it's doing exactly 5500rpm and manages 20mph.
However it's much more relaxed at 4800rpm (about 17mph) although we spent most of the time cruising slowly round the edges of the Loch.

With regards to the VHF yes I will get a licence as I am afraid to use the thing at the moment.

Just to show that it can be nice in Scotland, here's an interesting picture from my brothers front garden yesterday. No ribs in it but a very interesting big toy motoring past. I really wish I'd brought my rib (or at least a sib) with me.

Ps - due to the dark colours you need to zoom in to see it properly.
