G'day from Downunder

Hello One and All.

I wanted to say hello and thank you all for your website and the knowledge that you all impart here, it is greatly appreciated by a newcomer to the boat ownership fold.

I've recently bought, at the Sydney 2015 International Boat Show, a Mercury 290 Airdeck coupled to a Tohatsu 9.8hp two stroke outboard. I know it isn't the biggest or best combo on offer but I am happy so far with performance and I was very conscious of a lot of the decisions involved in buying a SIB thanks to this site and the experience on offer. If it is too hard to lift or pack away, it won't get used...

I'll say goodbye for now,

(there may be a review of Mercury inflatables and Tohatsu OB's at a later date from a newbie who was annoyed at the lack of information available to new purchasers.....)

Thanks,

Michael.

Welcome to RIBnet. Your rig is very similar to mine. It certainly is easy to pack! You'll be glad of the extra few centimetres too.

Welcome. Photos from the Land of Under please, for the poor cold buggers on the other side of the world.
Rumour has it that it can get rather warm. ( Do you know my Aunty Elga? She lives there).

Congratulations!

As another new Mercury inflatable owner (430 RIB), I was also pretty annoyed by the lack of information on their products.

Thanks for the warm welcome all.

We've been out twice now to test out the new outfit and we've been very happy so far. Even with an engine in need of break in and going very gently, we are able to easily get on the plane with two adults and a two year old. I think it would be mildly terrifying with 15hp on the back.

Robert31 - I could put up a pic but was too busy at the beach today - 34deg C.....
