garmin in a sib

I was lucky enough to get a garmin chart plotter fishfinder for Christmas and have been thinking of ways to mount it in my honwave sib and have found this on ebay can anyone see any problems or think of something better eBay item number:
151154151592. I thought this could be strapped to the seat with a couple of short bungees.thanks for any input

Looks like (NEW GARMIN KIT to MAKE Fish Finder Echo Sounder PORTABLE Inc Recharge Battery | eBay) its made for the job. It may not like getting wet though? I suspect you could make something yourself with a toolbox and a battery for a bit less - but something ready made is always easier!

I have a Garmin colour fish finder.
I mounted it to a metal plate which is screwed onto the under side of my honwave seat.
The metal is a right angled z shape.
Painted it black and mounted the fish finder on top.
Here's a few pics.
It cost peanuts and works a treat.
It hovers just above the petrol tank which is essentially un usable space.
It's out of the way of splashes and perfect position to view when sitting at the tiller.
I just use an Android tablet as a chart plotter which sits on the floor beneath the fish finder.
Works for me.

The batteries are located in the home made bow box at the front of the Sib.
I have a little shelf in the box with the batteries strapped in.
I run a power cord from the box to the tablet and fish finder.
I have a couple of cigarette lighter sockets wired up in there as well for charging my phone and VHF radio. One battery has thus far always lasted me the whole day sibbing/fishing.
I like having a spare as piece of mind tho.
The batteries sit at the front of the bow box I like a bit of ballast up front.
Gonna need a bigger boat soon as running out of space for mods.

Just an after thought Beerbelly....
I was initially going to fix the battery to the underside of the seat in a plastic box.
Again this area is dead space. There is ample room to keep your battery tucked under there off of the floor.
This type of set up would work a treat if you don't have a dedicated storage area to locate your battery.
Or you could easily make a made to measure wooden box and mount it under your seat and keep your battery in there out of harms way.
Incidentally the battery in the Garmin set up you shared the link for is the identical battery to the i use.
They are cheap as chips but very effective.

Here's my under seat battery holder, it's just a sandwich box from Poundland and a couple of bits of plastic bargeboard I had hanging around.

It only takes a couple of minutes to set it up.

It holds a 7ah 12 volt battery.

That looks just the ticket Stray.

I was initially going going to mount mine on top of my seat similar to yours until I realised it was right in the way of my oars when rowing.
My Honwave seat is much higher than on your set up tho so wouldn't work.
Your seat looks as if it sits a good bit lower inside the sib hence your oars won't clatter into your set up.

Mine set up is very similar but I use a RAM mount to give me a bit more flexibility for position.
