I just noticed that the black carrying handles on both sides of the boat look very new. Do you think that they were added recently?

In the early 80's, Zodiac switched from the old grey handles to ones that looked like those. If they are original, then your boat is newer than 1980, and the stringers have been replaced with wooden ones, but if not, then all bets are off.

Not based on the second picture, which clearly shows the two panels unsupported by the stringers (unless that's a fourth panel, in which case your statement is true.)

This boat has 4 anodized aluminum floorboard and only the aft-most 3 are straddled by the stringers. The first aluminum floorboard that is up against the thrust board is NOT straddled by the stringer and it is normal for there to be some flex at the hinge between floorboards 1 & 2. In a previous post, I attached a picture from the owner's manual for this specific boat showing that.

I suspect that the OPs idea of welding floorboards 1&2 together is not a good idea since it wasn't part of the original design.

I'd love to see a photo of the bottom of your boat when assembled and inflated to 220/240 millibar for the keel and 240/280 millibar for the hull. My bet is that you will be able to see the hook in the hull.

This thread includes the saga I went through with a hooked hull because of incorrectly assembled floorboards that failed to stretch out the hull fabric.

Waaaaay, too much time and effort was focused on the height of the motor in relation to the transom. In fact, on the advice of my dealer, I had a steel plate added to my transom to raise the motor several inches and that just caused a new problem: ventilation (with the AV plate about 1 inch below the bottom of the transom).

After getting rid of that modification and just assembling the floorboards correctly, my boat runs perfectly.

I have the same Zodiac you can see in my pictures, I think yours is about the same year with mine 1986. I have two old broken stingers made of wooden as yours (but paintedblack). And my floors down sides are the same as your picture, upper sides are non-slip coating.
I think your floorboards and joints are ok, but the tubes pressure is low.
did you manage to solve the problem, what is the result.
