Floor issue

When packing the SIB away on Saturday I noticed the rear floor board (nearest the transom) was slightly damaged as you can see from the pictures.
It's the same both sides.

Anyone come across this or can think of a fix?

Hi if its similar to the honwave's then i had a couple of stringers acualy break one was warranty the other i had welded up and also slid some steel down the box section to strenghthen it . it's all down to the floor flexing in heavy sea's

I've heard they're very similar to the Honwaves.
I've emailed the manufacturer so wait and see what happens I suppose.
I might think about beefing them up though.

I would agree with Trevor.

I had a Yam 360 for 10 years. After about 4 years I snapped a stringer, all due to the floor flexing on the water. It didnt have to be a heavy sea, it flexed even when it was flat calm. In fact it was more noticeable when it was calm.

I Just trimmed of the jagged ends of stringer and contined to use them. They were still long enough to straddle and support the joints in the floor.

After this I made sure the Yam was always well inflated, especially the under floor tube. It give the sib better rigidity and lessened the flexing. Should have done this at the start.

Never looked back..

Looked again at the floor and saw that some of the rivets were working loose.

So, ordered some stainless M8 nuts and bolts and replaced all the rivets.

Floor seems a lot more solid now although I haven't tried it on the water yet.

Near instant fix, remove all rivets from that floorboard, remove rail, straighten the curved part, solder with alum the broken edge, place new rivets and just place bolt, nuts on that injured part, this is the alum slat that suffers the most when sib is used underinflated at choppy seas or using larger/heavier engine than max recommended.

Lockieboy, your side joiners are too small for that sib, you need larger ones, no wonder you have tech problems.

So the thoughts are that the stringers are to short?

I haven't had any issues with the floor bending or the stringers failing.

Maybe I will try and source longer ones just to be safe.

They could do with being wider mate ,should be like locozodiac's,see the width, they hold the floor more rigid.Did they come with the boat?.

I know how you feel, I haven't had much use this year.
Was planning to go to minnis on saturday but it's looking a bit windy.

To get the idea, factory sends shorter side joiners same lenght as the sib box height, If you could find, install same width just longer ones in sibs that has shorter ones, or larger one piece long instead of 4 side joiners, 2 long, 2 short found on larger sibs would be fantastic.

Forget all about hinge floor effect, bending lateral panel floorboard's rails and transom rear rail as in the example specially if going extreme sibbing higher loaded at choppy seas. Just inflate sib to it's factory recommended pressure and you will have an excellent work horse performer than before.

Thanks for the advice. May speak to the manufacture about getting another set.

Lockieboi, check modified attached pic, measure as suggested and send that info to manufacturer to send 2 larger side rails same width as yours but much longer, it's wortht the investment and much better final sib sea ride. If possible to get, let me know to send some more hints when installing.
