much as I enjoy the physical exercise of pumping up the boat it seems a shame to have available electronic gadgetry that will do the job and not make use of it.

However being tight as parts of a ducks anatomy I don't really want to spend £100 quid on a fancy bravo pump.

on checking out Fleabay (the ubiquitous purveyor of cheap Chinese knock off's)
I spy a so called 300l/min electric pump for a tenner.

there's one of the cheaper Bravo pump's on there for £80 that claims at best 160l/min seems one of them is taking the mick and I'm not sure who!

anybody got any first hand experience of the cheapie?

My Bravo pump is 2 pumps in one. The first works similarly to the one on eBay and does high volume, the second stage is a compressor style pump that cuts in and provides the pressure.

Might be worth using the eBay one to get the tubes inflated to low pressure and then use your manual pump to finish.

I've got a cheap 240v pump similar to the cheapy ones on ebay. Works fine at home and puts some pressure into the tubes too. I'd always finish off the job by footpump as I have much more control over pressure.

So I see no problem with buying a 12v cheapy from ebay, I'm sure it'll do the job OK. I think build quality isn't as good as the bravo pumps though, so they might not last as long.

I'd buy it, test it and reveiw it on RIBnet

I have a 240v one that came with my little Navigator III. Does the job fine and will also prove useful with paddling pools,lilos etc...

I've got the exact one in the ebay ad as well as a high pressure Bravo one. It'll get the volume into my Redcrest quickly, but it'll need topping up after.

No 'air movement' pump will give you much more than paddling pool pressure - these are all the cheaper ones - only a compressor type with a piston (ie the Bravo type) will get you higher pressures. Hundreds of previous pump topics on here but the upshot is you either buy an HP Bravo to do the whole job or use a basic electric airbed type pump for the voume and a double action stirrup pump for the final pressure.

yep, I'm happy with that.
In the end I went for a coleman pump. claims 600l/min.
currently on Amazon for half price. A ridiculously expensive £7.80

I took a different approach with a 700w 240v cont. inverter in the car and a smallish 600w vacuum (for $5 kiwi). The lady assured me it blew on the website auction as well as sucking but turns out she just wanted the sale... ahwell so plan is to invert the airflow and see how it performs.

I've just purchased on ebay a Coleman Rechargable high performance pump for £20.

I used my £8 coleman pump yesterday.
it performed admirably. As said previously in the thread needs to be topped off with the hand pump.
