Ebay money back guarantee/paypal buyers protection

Hi all i have seen a sib on ebay but the seller has no feedback and with him been too far to collect i asked him if he could use a courier to send it to me and he agread after payment had cleared paypal that he could send it.

Am i protected by either ebay money back guarantee or paypal buyers protection if the sib did not turn up would i get my money back?

Thanks.Ash

Possibly a scam but not definitely. Depending on location get someone (possibly on here) to check it out.
Ebay money back doesn't cover big items and I'd be reluctant to commit to a deal like the one that you're proposing as you could end up badly out of pocket.

Ebay Buyer Protection Doesn't Cover 'Big items' = Vehicles and Property. Boats come under the Vehicles Category, so you need to check where on ebay its been listed. If its only listed as sporting goods then I **think** you'd be covered...

+1👍 IMHO it would be foolish to buy unseen, at a distance, from an un-proven seller. What could possibly go wrong?

Good advice given above. Everyone has to start selling on Ebay sometime but most folks get their feedback from some cheaper and easier to post items first.

Also as said above the category it's in can exclude it from buyer protection so that needs checking.

Even if not a scammer an inexperienced Ebayer can still introduce problems into the whole sale/posting process.

And finally so many issues between buyer and seller are down to genuine difference of opinion in condition descriptions. With a SIB you take a huge risk it's not as good as expected and since you asked the guy to post to you without you seeing it then it's a bit hard on the seller to nit pick over it and then do a refund claim.

In any case it may well end up costing you the return carriage at the very least.

Where is it in the country? Could one of us who's nearer give it a look?

Unfortunately PayPal won't cover this but if the backend of your PayPal uses a credit card then that maybe worth looking into.

Note: if you pay a supplier using a credit card via PayPal then you LOSE your right to any Section 75 protection.

Would no trust Pay Pal "protetction" too much, IMHO their customer service is a joke what comes to dispute/problem resolutions.
