Key safety equipment you've not mentioned - SUN TAN LOTION ! Looks to be the best days weather for a long long time . Enjoy !

Oh and overalls I think are really overFALLs - ie standing breaking waves - but easily avoided across there.

Also have a look at Hightowers thread here Solent Tidal Streams showing the tidal streams on the Solent - I have found this a great help planning a smoother crossing.
