Crate Transportation

Hi all ,well in the next couple of weeks i will be arranging transportation of my Sib that i have purchased,soon as the cheque has cleared i will be contacting SPEEDSHIFT,the chap i am buying the boat from is putting it on a crate for me,NOW MY QUESTION is before i contact speedshift ,will the crate be ok to be used or will they want to use theirs? as they have two crate sizes that they use,i really do not have any idea about this crate shipping lark,never used this system of getting goods before ,HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME PLEASE

From previous experience with my local company you use your own pallet. Make sure the pallet can be put on a pallet truck and jacked up. If the pallet has planks across the bottom you won't be able to move it.
Give Codders a ring if you have any concern about sizes.

Cheers mate will do,the chap im getting the boat off works at a recycling plant and has access to a teleloader so should be helpfull in the loading process ,not very good at this pc lark ,hope you don t mind me asking do you happen to have his number,don t know how to find him ,have tried ,just i get confused ,can t find any posts either,lol

Even if you have a telehandler at your end they'll need to get it on the pallet truck, I'd be suprised if they take a pallet with lats on the bottom?

If well packed, You dont nesseseraly need a pallet. I purhased a Aerotec 420 from UK recently. It was packed in its own bag + wraped in the aditional cover + as last in a few black garbage bags+ duct tape. Everything went smooth an as the size was smaller and total weight much less, saved plenty on the freight. Handling was also easy, didi it by my own. With a pallet more tricky. But, agree, might be safer on a pallet.....

Doh ,don t know how i missed the phone number,lol rung Speed shift today and had a chat ,nice fella and he rang me straight back enquiring the stringers at 8ft long,will know on monday if extra cost,i wanna keep the price down,so i might leave them and make me own all depends on how much extra,not gonna pay loads for 2 peices of alloy,lol with luck hopfully be able to fit them somehow on the same pallet?

DONT go getting rid of the original stringers mate!

Must check my files, but think it was about 160 eur(+vat I guess). The measurement for the freight was on the safe side, also weight was for 60 kg , actual little less.

Within the UK for a pallett its usually around £46, not sure about overseas?

wonder how much it would be to send them seperate by carrier/courier ,,non palatised

Thats a briliant price in my opinion for a pallet and cargo. Overseas is a different story. Overseas pallets needs typically to be stackable(to have a good rate) and thats why it was not in my case an economical sollution.

At some later stage planning to buy a SR 5.4 from UK, wonder what that freight will be.....maybe need to drive it home?

Lemme put it this way mate. The original stringers fit and have lasted a long time. Without them to at least compare with you don't know if you've got it right when you make new ones. Besides, it's likely to cost rather more than you expect for new ones. Ally isn't cheap and you'll have to find the right grade too.

You really REALLY don't want to get rid of the stringers. By the time you have bought the materials, worked out how to try and make them, and found they are not as good as the originals the cost of shipping will seem like a bargain.

Mart's suggestion of looking at a separate courier is a good one.
