calf mats

After our last run out in Anglesey we've decided to put some padding on the floor of the sib..we've found some quite dense foam that's used in the dairy industry called calf matting..its about inch half thick very light and comes in 6x4 sheets...

Interesting-does it absorb water?

No they are made for calfs to lay on so can't absorb anything they need to be lifted out of the pens and disinfected a lot so its very light..I use it in the dog van for my dogs to sleep on..going to get some tommorow so I'll post some pics n prices

I use this in the back of the 110. It's closed cell and completely waterproof. Fairly light and very non-slip.

Mine has survived horrible abuse over the last 14 years and still going strong!

I use this in the tub of the 130 takes loads of abuse

Dunno. Calves have low expectations. I suspect that Liz will expect more from a mattress....

Think its horse mat rubber you have in ya landy .mega heavy I have to use that for my malinios...the calf mats are a quarter of the weight..

Don't want it to sleep on want it to take the shock out of the floor on heavy landings..we were battered last weekend lol

Nos; when backpacking, we used to use Ensolite; it's a closed cell sponge rubber mat. Stuff we used was about 1/2" thick, but it was available in thicker (and thinner - hardcore backpackers didn't view comfort as more important than weight.)

Ensolite was good as it insulated you from the ground pretty effectively, and wasn't too bad in the weight department. Lighter than an equivalent air mattress (at least one that would last for a couple-week outing.) No idea on cost now though.

Bought and fitted this today...20 mm thick 3ft 6 square two pieces were £40 it weighs 2 kg..its fairly soft one sides green the other blue...it floats n doesn't absorb water....should save our knees lol
