Bungee rope solution for your ringo.

Decided to sacrifice a bungee 4x4 tow rope for my ringo, (these are used to bounce another 4x4 out of deep mud on extreme off-roading) I'm towing my ringo from my SIB so I needed a lot of stretch to save jerking on the transom, I cut off the towing eye clips, fitted a large carabiner for quick connect and release to the ringo towing loop, I guess the bungee tow rope floats as well the rope stretches to around double its size.

On full stretch if the eye on the ringo fails you’ve got a carabiner on the end of a very long elastic band heading your way with a lot of kinetic energy.......not good. If you are into ‘extreme’ off-roading you’ll know kinetic ropes can be very dangerous ( and have killed ), numeros 4x4 sites have banned them, just be careful

That's why I took of the heavy dangerous towing hook/eye clips, Im only pulling with a 25hp not a 150hp so I think it should be ok I might remove the carabiner, being it's a ringo on top of water not a 2 ton 4x4 stuck in mud it should be ok, I will find out the weekend, it might make it more fun with the stretch and bounce lol, when I've used them on 4x4 extreme sport they never seemed to work anyway.

When we tow toy’s I only ever use a non-stretch floaty rope and no hardware, at least then if you snap something it isn’t going to try and kill u, just my humble opinion

You need some stretch to prevent damage by sharp jerking to the boat mount and toy mount, the kenitic Wont whip back up the distance it will be behind us without any weight on the end of it, the problem with the 4x4 use is the tension a 2 ton vehicle creates and the huge shackles they add to the rope to connect it to the vehicle, I will be removing the Carabiner just in case, we shall find out Saturday when I stretch it fully from the beach to the anchored SIB and let it go to see how it responds before use on the ringo,it's about as risky as stretching a wet bungee over the tarp covering your boat.

Good call losing the carabiner, mass x velocity = dented head!
Bowline or a ‘soft shackle’ for attaching tow lines work well

Like I said I'm pulling from a SIB transom with a 25hp I don't want jerking and snatching on my transom. If it's to much I will have to move on and try some thick elastic bungee

On further thought I will connect the kenitic rope with 2 carabiners to both of my towing eyes on my transom then connect the tow rope to the looped kenitic rope, then the kenitic rope is not going anywhere, and hopefully if it floats it won't get around the prop. The kenitic rope might not be the answer at all, it might snatch the transom more than just a standard rope, it's all about trial and error!
