Brighten up old ropes
wifes gone out for the day so this morning i washed all my dirty rope , anchor lines ,lifelines ect in the washing machine ,they have all come out looking new and with a drop of bleach and ocean breeze fabric conditioner they smell great .regards mart

Never thought of the dishwater. Put them in a pillow case before washing in the washing machine otherwise they can get really damaged.

Yep, me too.  ...and trail them behind the boat to take out the twists.
I have a full suit of black warps and lines on the new boat which don't show the stains.

ill leave a few shackles and carabiners on next time that will losen up the lime scale for her in her precious machine lol. it took me 20 mins to work out how to switch it on ,

not sure the bleach and fabric softener are a good idea for longevity/strength.

Bleach, probably not. Fabric softener should do well, adding back the lubricity that the rope loses from salt and sun.
