Bow canopy mods

Bought a bow canopy from eBay last year. Fitted quite well but a couple of the elastic clips were a bit too long and after some use the shorter ones seemed to be over stretched and coming apart. Click image for larger version

With this in mind I thought some eyelets and shock cord would be the solution. I’ve used metal eyelets before but they are cheap and rust so quickly they’d be no good in salt water.

I decided on some plastic eyelets.

To reinforce these I planned on adding some pvc material to the back of the canopy before fitting them.

I used two part pvc glue and added a patch to the rear of each area I’d put an eyelet.

Turned out well. Stronger than before with the ability to adjust the tension for each eyelet. It’s one piece of shock cord all the way around and is looped through each eyelet.

Hope this helps or gives some inspiration.

It’s a 3.8m Zodiac sib. The cover cost £50 from eBay last year. Click image for larger version
