The funny thing about it was the throttle handle was in the same position when the outboard struck the rocks about halfway to three quarters on they never put it back to nuatrial so it gave me a good idea how fast they where going but they never even asked if they could trial the boat out ?!?! I'am going to with hold the dealer name until the issue is resolved just in case they are looking at this post and if they are I would like to thank them for the wonderful service [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Accidents happen. I'm sure the dealer will resolve. They'll have liability insurance for this very thing. If it was an aluminium propeller, then it will have taken the full impact. Different story if it had been stainless steel. Hopefully the skeg is okay.

Regards pictures, they might be too big memory wise. Use some of the free online services to reduce size and try re-uploading.

Sometimes pics don’t upload from the website version of this.

Instead try the app. Always works for me.

Is it common practice for dealers in the UK to take outfits out for a run when they've come in for a service. I generally have 4 services per year and none are on the water.

I think so, I know mine has been taken for a short run a few times after a service, actually thinking about it it may have been due to a slight misfire, then it was serviced and new plugs and then tested all ok so not sure.

Is that the same engine you had issues with last year not long after it was serviced? If so is it the same dealer? [emoji848]

That’s not great! I would expect the dealer to put everything back to the way it should be and offer some discount too for the inconvenience.

Let us know how you get on.

For these small engines doing the servicing yourself is very easy

I’m sure the OP finds that advice very useful! I’ve mostly serviced mine myself but occasionally outsourced it, especially if I wanted something else at the same time.

I don’t think it is normal - but as the OP said he wasn’t just having it serviced:

just to clarify a few things that outboard was been serviced but there was modifications being done to the boat as well the dealer was under strict instructions to notify me when they were starting the modifications and when the modifications have been completed to allow me time to get down there to see the modifications before it was sea trialled the dealer fail to notify me on both events so the damage done to the engine when they tried it without my knowledge
