Bigbury on seA

Not the best day but got out for a ride round this morning, all went well but had a problem with the sand hopper wheels, although they ride over the sand well and sink easily, when I tried to put them down before beaching they have no air in them they would not drive up into the transom bracket and kept popping out, so had to deploy the wheels while in the surfClick image for larger version

I have pneumatic tyres on my wheels but I always have to push them manually to click them into place, whether it is "up" or "down".

Not 100% sure of the issue - sand hoppers are solid aren't they?

But all wheels need some pin or other method of locking down (and up) normally:

Sorry it's a bit hard to describe, my wheels have like a triangle hole on the pin which you jiggle around a bit to use the upper position slot or down position slot with no other fixings, so as the sand hoppers are solid they have no air to push them up into the slot when in the down position, it's not a big problem as I'll just go back to the wheelbarrow type tyres

Thanks for helping tho, and I can see why the sand hoppers totally work with transom wheels that have a hinge pin and a fixing pin, but I only have a hinge pin and a slot

Depends on your beach as to what works best but I found the narrow pneumatics useless round here (pebbles/sand/shingle mixture). The sailing boys use the huge ones like trailer tyres which are OK but the narrow ones are a no no.
