Barnet Marine Centre Ltd and new boat purchase

Hello all,Has anyone any dealings with the company Barnet Marine Centre Ltd are they any good,also has any recomendations on the sunsport range of inflatables http://www.ribs.co.uk/generic/docs/b...st_1-01-10.pdf ,as i am thinking its time for the seago and the 6hp to go,Its time for a bigger boat possibly a (al360 and a f20 hp outboard package is this any good your thoughts would be great,cheers people.

Not quite a boat but I got my console off Laurence and he was very helpful.
I think a couple of members have XS Ribs and all seem happy with them.

I would love something bigger but as i have no off street parking and no towbar its only a sib for me.I have about 3k to spend any recomendations would be good.

Barnet marine have been in the business for a long time and now a thing our two about RiBs and inflatables, speak to either Laurence or Martin, you'll get good service.

if i wanted to spend 3k on a sib it would be that old favourite, the Bombard 380 aerotec and a 15 hp 2 stroke engine.

you ever tried to carry a f20 any distance!

i recon that they have been in the inflatable boat buisness at least since the late 1970s know they used to supply a lot of diving clubs with inflatable boats /trailers before r.i.bs were popular .,Astra you have the same problem as me i dont have any off street parking now ,i have a massive back garden but no access to it ,,it never bothered me in the past as i rented a large yard and building just over my garden wall to keep my boats in ,, i once stored a brand new atlantic 75 lifeboat and even kept a mersey class lifeboat there overnight once , but the owner ,,needed the buildings back after 25 years,, so when i use my s.i.b it now has to go through a 3 foot wide passageway between the houses ,,including the trailer which has a small jocky wheel on the side so i can stand it up and wheel it through into the street ,

Yes i no it sucks but at least you have a tow bar,can anyone comment on the top speed of the al360 with a 20hp outboard and will it be capable of towing a ringo,Many thanks for the help already.

Have had good dealings with Barnett, a search on here will spot many other good comments.

My thoughts...and I've got a 3.8 Quicksilver with a Yamaha 20hp, my boat has the Ali floor. The boat weighs 100 kg and the engine 50 kg

Its certainly more than fast enough with this engine, and I'm sure it would tow a ringo fine.

I'll agree with what Matt said about the weight, we now have our set up on a trailer, as the engine is too heavy to carry more than a 10-20 feet on your own. It isn't the dead-weight of the engine, I'm sure we could all have a go lifting 50kgs at the gym, it is the size of the thing you are trying to pick up!

The boat is great for what we use it for, as we can have it on the trailer, the putting together, inflating, deflating and getting in the car shouldn't be under estimated with a SIB of 3.6 metres and above.

If I didn't have this option, I would be seeking out a used Bombard Aerotec 380.

In hindsight, I would have preferred the 15hp for the weight power trade off.

As I already posted, weight + weight balance is an issue. Get an outboard trolley with big wheels.
Does anybody use this for launching? What's the name in English?

Bought my first rib a couple of years ago from Lawrence at Barnet Marine and they were great to deal with. Recommended!

Check this out. Zodiac MK2C HD (compact) with aluminium floor. It's 3.8m and completely dismantles. Used to have a similar boat MK2C GT with an aluminium floor - and they're great. The sponsons will fold down and go in one bag, the aluminium floor sections and the front marine ply thrust boards, oars, go in the other bag. I used it with a Yamaha short-shaft 25hp 2-stroke. Probably on the limit for lifting, moving, etc, but is workable if you're determined enough.

As for the trailer - it could be sold and use the money towards the engine.

Barnet Marine and Lawrence - highly recommended.
I bought my new opti from him last year and Lawrence went out of his way to find another at the same price after I had missed the one he had in stock by 1 hour !
