Avon Typhoon - Intrepid New Owners alert!!!

Hi All

Have lurked here for a while whilst I thought long and hard about the type of boat we wanted - anyway today we collected an Avon S4 Typhoon.

She is in cracking condition, really well looked after (1997) - or at least seems to be, she came with a Snipe trailer and a 25hp Yamaha outboard - same age as the boat

No patches or repairs - also has the optional steering kit and transom mount - just missing the original seat.

No idea if we paid over the odds - £1500 - for everything.

Once we have her sorted I'll post a few pictures - really looking forward to becoming part of the RIB/SIB world.

First question - any ideas if you can still get the original seats - or do you know if you can get hypolon seat patches and we can then buy a wooden/plastic seat - this is probably the first of many......

Was that the EBay one... if so I was watching it out of interest and it had been talked about on a recent thread. Looked very nice.

Hi David

Yes it was - hope I have'nt upset anyone by getting it - eeek - it fitted the bill perfectly for us but always a bit of a worry when you buy through a site such as eBay - but the chap seemed very genuine and helpful.

Hope the thread was "good" discussion - lol - I must have missed it

Rather desperate to go out and play now!!!

Have a look on the thread "Avon Supersport on EBay" where yours was mantioned. Matt even uploaded a scan of the original brouchure.

No I wasn't in a position to buy as we have not 100% decided which direction our boats will go in yet. We have a 4m fast-fisher GRP boat with 20hp and a 3.2m inflatable with 10hp. Just thinking about replacing them both with something like the Avon you've bought.

Be great to see some images when you get it on the water.
