Anchor points.

Been looking over the underside of my avon floor and noticed it had some kind of threaded insert in the floor.
This would mean you could fasten things from above (as long as the bolt DIDN'T protrude past the floor!) without the need for a dome headed bolt. You also wouldn't need acess to the underside of the floor.
Does anyone know what they are called, and are they just epoxied to the hole?

Pics show view from below, above there is nothing visible, just the hole.
Cheers,
Geoff

I'll have a look for some images of riv nuts, thanks Mark.

They aren't drain holes as they are tapped (m8 I think), and there are 4 in a square on one side of tghe boat, as if there for a steering column of something. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I think these would be perfect... http://www.modelfixings.co.uk/threaded_inserts.htm if they were in stainless steel. You could screw them in from above the floor.
What do you think, would they grip well enough, or could they be pulled out?

Scroll down to the Monel fasteners.

I'm sure there are others out there.

Geoff,
Search for T (or Tee) nut in stainless steel - I have tried and failed to find a supplier to provide me with just a few for use on my floor for securing fittings. I prefer to use them rather than self tapping screws.

They are better than domed nuts for fitting through the floor as they sit flush and do not damage the fabric beneath the floor.

Regards

Ed

Geoff
We live close enough to make sharing an order worthwhile if it saves costs.
