Alternative transducer mount

I just purchased a SIB, its deck extends past the transom to function like integrated trim tabs. This feature is great, except it causes nightmares with the idea of mounting a fish finder.

I did not find anything on here to point me in the right direction so I thought I would post my solution on here in case someone needs it in the future.

http://www.titelok.com/ provides a transom clamp-able angle adjustable boom arm just for this purpose.

Sorry if this sounds like an advert, but they had what I needed.

I think I know what he means-it looks like an extension of the transom at 90 degrees to it, at the waterline. It's supposed to stop the bow shooting up in the air when you whack the throttle open from standstill. Apparently it works, though I've never seen it in use.

Got it. Thanks, Nos.

Seems to me a block of polyethylene (or aluminum, or wood even) screwed to the extension, with the ducer bracket mounted to the block should work OK.

My aluminum hull has a similar expension off the motor pod, and that's how I mounted my transducer.

Photo as promised

Here is the photo of the transom, integrated trim planes and the transducer mount that I purchased. Note: The deck is not inflated.

Hope this answers the questions.

Interesting. First time I've seen that. My solution definitely wouldn't have worked.

Nos, I was wrong. I didn't have it.
