Advice wanted on China RIB

Ribbers ahoi

I am in the early stages of buying a RIB from China; my needs in short: RIB use mainly for leasurly cruising at low wind in the Mediterranean, short distances (5-10 miles), never far from the coast, family on board; A large sundeck is important. Use for 10-15 days per year, storage in garage.

I would appreciate member comments about RIB quality from Chinese manufacturers which you own and may have personally imported from China, after locating the supplier on e.g. Alibaba.
The company I am in contact with is QB Yachting, link below:

RIB boat, RIB boat direct from Lingpo Duckwan Yak Co., Ltd. in China (Mainland)

Price range: RIB, 5.5 m, Hypalon, ca. 10 000 $ (plus 1500 € in transport). See pic.

PLEASE: no generic comments about low-quality China products etc, I currently own a Honwave and personally know the factory manager running the site where these products are produced in China (they are sold, FYI, also in China under a different brand name, at a different price of course).

I would very much welcome comments about China-made trailers. This company conveniently produces also trailers, price approx. 800 $.

If you have suggestions about top-quality RIB producers from personal expetrience, I would like to hear from you. I would also appreciate suggestions on any particular model you may have in mind.
Thanks Andreas

If you are HONWAVE owner (like me use to be) why not consider

HIGHFIELD/HONDA boats OM500

To this China RIB mentioned above, you have to add some customs and VAT and as a results you will have the same price

This is natural upgrade for HONWAVE user, powered by HONDA, etc.
There is HIGHFIEDL distributor in Germany and probably in Austria.

ALU boat, small weight. Where you have low wind in Mediteran ?

I spend every year in Greece (first time in 2015 will be with Highfield RIB) and every day I faced Meltemi

I have found contact to Austria distributor from Highfield webpage:

Are there anti-wear pads underneath the rears of the tubes?
Are they using mastic on the internal seams to prevent weeping through the cord structure?
Is there dealer support for a potential future warranty claim?

If it's a Rib you're after and not a sib I would avoid the Chinese brands like the plague..... don't ask me how I know as for China trailers they are not legal in this country unless things have changed in the last 5 years.

That's the problem, when it comes to Chinese RIBS, there is no debate

Anyway, Kerny & Hadd are better placed to comment than I am.

Yep!
Trouble is the way they make em!
Sub standard ingredients, quickly made, fizzed up to look appealing...and in no time you feel you need another!..."RIB" that is!

My previous rib was manufactured in China and imported and distributed via 'Seaswift' in Devon. The 4.2m aluminium hulled 'Xpro' was powered by the superb Honda bf50. I could find no fault with this package to be honest providing it was used in relatively sheltered waters as I found out to my painful cost during last years McMillan round Anglesey cruise.

My advice would be make sure you have decided exactly what you intend to use the vessel for, and try before you buy if possible.

Good luck

RRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
All I can think is why would you buy this from China?
Don’t get me wrong they do make some very good kit these days (and some c**p!) But unless you buy this from an importer retailer local to you what are you going to do when the transom falls off?
Send it back to China?
If your budget is limited to this price I would look at second hand well-known brand to the area you want to boat in the Italians and the Greek’s make some very good ribs for the Med and if you buy well you should not lose much if any money over time whereas this will drop like a stone!

+1 For Steve at Seaswift. Great service and stands by both rib and trailer.

Own a sib made in china "SeaMax" Tubes are two inches larger in diameter and is the only sib registered and load-max plated by Canada's Ministry of Natural Resources. Had it three years and am quite happy with the boat.
