Thanks Jeff. It looks like the transom is just cut down on the 122. So you think the 25 would suffice on the 132?

hi kurt

yes i do gurnard on here has a 4.3 mercury with a 25 hp 2 stroke mariner on it 264 lbs boat weight it easily performs with lots of weight on for camping trips carrying lots of fuel too.
the 132 is smaller than his so i have no dought it will suffice achilles state 10-40 hp recommending 30 hp to perform carrying max weight so if you add up you weight i bet you're nowhere near that. the longer boat will be a better ride wider and more stable, if you put the 122 & 132 side by side they will look vastly different although size difference isn't that much. as i previously mentioned i have three props the difference in performance getting on the plane and keeping there is very surprising between the 10-12 inch pitch props although top speed only drops around 2 knots
of course the 30 hp would be better but for the weight difference, portability etc there won't be that much in it IMO and of course the $ go up for the 30
as a comparison my set up
me 252 lbs fat bloke
boat 220 lbs
engine 136 lbs
fuel 100 lbs
kit 50 lbs
boat length 365 it was the old 3.80 with shorter cones so approaching the 132.
i dont need anywhere near all my power

Hi guys Jeff is urs the air deck or alloy floor can't remember the Yamaha is a good engine the 20hp would probably do but having that wee bit more in reserve does help when more than two on board with camping gear

Achilles SGX-122 vs. Defender 380

My Zodiac Futura Mk2c does well in the chop but you still have to reduce your speed or is slams down hard. Guess thatíll be the case with any sib to a point.
It does great with the 25hp but being a 4 stroke efi it is a heavy lump. I think it would be ok with a 20 just not as quick off the mark.

Iím very happy with this combination. Iíve got some videos of this setup on my YouTube channel if you want to see it in action. Loaded and unloaded.

Hope you enjoy whatever you buy.

Hereís one of my videos, you can see my others on my channel.
