A7 Valve

Firstly let me say Thank You to you all for the information that I have gleened from reading this forum. Most of my novice questions have been answered by reading past posts.

I have an Avon Sportboat 3-40. In prepartaion for this years fun I have started to check it out and found that 2 of the valves have slight air leaks on them.

Today I had a prod about and one of the valves fell apart.
I have seen somewhere an assembley drawing of these but I am unable to find it again.. Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction.. or be able to give me a "Janet and John" description on hwo to remove the valve unit without buying the £77 socket spanner.

think the drawing you refer to is on rib-shop website, i used a big adjustable spanner to undo the locknut, you are best to order the repair kit first so that you can see what bits are involved, its fairly easy to do

Thank You for your swift reply. That wasn't the drawing I was thinking of.
Would you know if the white plunger just screws into the the diaphram?

All fitted today and as markg said "Pretty straight forward"..

I think I saw it on the Leafield site a while back. Buried pretty deep, but it was there.

Sorry; that may have been for the C7 valve. Don't see the A7 on there anymore.

Started fitting the new floor in the D Classs tonight (late...should have left it until the morning!)

Floor in, went to reinflate the sponsons and now have a slowly freeflowing valve....plus a rubber diaphragm /ring which blew out....

Will order a service kit tomorrow.....off the top of their heads, does anyone here know what valve the D Class had /has? AND anyone want to supply me a couple of repair /service kits (will have a spare)?

It's dark now, and I'm away on charter for the next few days.....any assistance appreciated....If someone knows and or can supply, will ring through to order /pay tomorrow etc

Oh, and to tp it all off, there's no beer in the house either.....'violin begins to play'

Sorry, can't help with supply, but if they are the same as the Y boat valves I think they are bitter valves from Alfons Haar Ltd:

I know the website doesn't look relevant, but if they are Alfons Haar valves on your D class they will have the 'AH' logo on the caps as per the website logo.

Your best option might be to contact Avon. I think the part numbers are

Complete valve in grey:

AH0000011258

Complete valve in black:

147940

Seal:

AH0000011258

But please double check before you order anything! If all else fails you could try the disposals guy at the RNLI - I can PM his e-mail address or look on page 5 of the latest edition of 'Offshore'

You are a star Chris.....and spot on with Alfons Haar, was dark and I was hungry (highly irrational) last night....was getting close to that Basil Fawlty moment with the car and the stick....

Didn't finish until gone 6 today so haven't had chance to call Avon....did just briefly take one apart (two are slowly running despite having been perfect before i deflated it to put the floor in.....)

The rubber seals looks good, the springs seem strong /good.....the circlip is good....cleaned them quickly, but both still running slowly....will have a proper go at them over the weekend if i get chance.....

Might try and (over)inflate them with the compressor and see if that helps them seal....any tips on how to clean them /other ideas appreciated

What to hell is that for an company?

I tried to order that repair kit for my boat, but there's no reaction from them at all!
Just a skinny ''confirmation of order'' with a number and that's all.
They don't take money from my credit card, nor delivery nor answer to my emails to ask them what is wrong !
They're absolutly dead !
I don't understand that at all and because of this I would nobody recommend to order there.
