A sib for Europe

Me and my wife are thinking of having a little travel around some of the coastal areas of France or perhaps spain next year. I have my 3.2 m Ali floor sib but wanted something a bit bigger and robust to feel a little safer. I don't want to tow one of my Ribs as I want the freedom of just having a car.

I don't want to buy another outboard and I don't like Air Floors.


So I was thinking of buying the Honwave T35 AE2. Looking at some You Tube videos I think my 9.8 hp Tohatsu 2 stroke should plane it ok with just the two of us on board.

What do others think.

Also although I do have my ICC I assume with a boat and motor of this size you are free to plop it in the sea where you can without too much red tape..... Am I correct in this respect

Having owned a T35AE I can say ours gave the worse performance with the 15hp we had on it than any other SIB used with that OB. So it may plane 2-up but don't expect it to be lively.

It's a shame you don't like air floors.

Regarding air floors I like to have a flat floor and when jumping in and out and putting things in and out I like to have a flat solid floor beneath me

Hi - we have a 4m Waveline XT with ali floor and a 8hp2 stroke mariner which with 2 gets onto the plane and does 12 knots... got ours for around £900..

Portability and ease of setup in the daily use or holiday situation.

I think I might have the answer. The Frib 360. It is only 48 kg and I am pretty sure my 9.8 12 stroke will perform well on it.


Anyone any experience of this boat

If it will fit in your vehicle it's a possible answer. They are a very efficient hull so will get the best from your 9.8.

Have a look at the Takacat range. Go very well with small engines and alot of fun.

The floor is not flat - it’s single skinned hull - so your argument against airfloor should apply too.

I know but it is still solid and it is very easy to make an addition like the Gunard did to make it flat. I also think it will go better with my 9.8 hp Tohatsu.

I think the high pressure air floor is more solid than you think! The frib should work well, but will be more expensive. I quite like Matt’s takacat suggestion but really you want to have all three in front of you to play with, assemble and try out on the water...

It would be lovely if you could try them out but not possible I suspect

I am coming round to the option of an air floor. I have a Bravo 2 pump already so that is a help
