A few sibbing photos from 2018 - loch Hourn and jura

Here are a few photos of a couple of sibbing trips from 2018
First was a climbing trip with my girlfriend - down Loch Hourn to knoydart from Mallaig -took the frib and the 9.8 tohatsu 2 stroke
2nd trip was with my friend Simon -he had his superb Highfield 380 rib for the first time in the sea, with his new 20hp suzuki and I had my trusty alloy honwave with my 15hp 2 stroke
Cracking weather on both trips and both excellent wee jaunts!

More of Loch Hourn, Loch was like a mirror so was beautiful, although minus 5 at night so glad we took the down duvet with us - one of the benefits of camping with the boat, can take all the heavy luxuries from the house!

Thanks fenlander

For the jura trip we started and finished at Crinan.
Going through the corryvwreckan was much like I always find it - flat calm ! Although we could see the big standing waves in the distance. I've only ever gone through with one boat before so it was nice to have Simon with me in the event of a breakdown. The tide had just started to flood so we flew through in no time and went down the west coast of jura. I love it down the west coast, Scotland doesn't feel a very remote country these days but jura is the one place I find a bit isolated, although as I was thinking that a couple of big ribs motored past us
Simon''s Highfield is really good and it was so much faster than my honwave. 3/4 throttle on mine struggled to keep up with 1/2 throttle with Simon. I'm not sure how much of the was to do with his more efficient hull or hus superior engine

Is that Simon from the forum?

My guess is his hard hull efficiency is a big starting factor.

The GRP Bonwitco (plus 20hp Mariner) of mine in the pic below could outrun the Aerotec with a 20hp by about 5kts... purely down to hull design as it was 100kg or more heavier.

Yeah that's him fenlander, we were at uni together back in the day
Simon has gone from a honwave air floor to an aerotec to his Highfield and loves it
Yeah I think you are right about the hull. My honwave has much bigger tubes and a flat floor, it just looks really draggy compared with his Highfield
At 2.5k I think his rib is great value, especially when it's cheaper than my frib 360. But then my frib is nearly half the weight and goes in the back of my car. I need to keep reminding myself of those 2 crucial differences to stop myself going and buying one!
