im thinking of selling my Bombard Aerotec 380/Yam 15hp 2 stroke in excellent as new working order with brand new galvanized bunked trailer with winch for a lot less than your max budget. I havnt used the trailer yet as brand new 4 weeks ago so used to inflating/deflating at location from its canvas bag which sits in the back of my car with the engine, bow bag, boat seat etc. The boat has an inflatable solid 'v' keel which is great for planing. We use it for fishing also with no probs at all.....food for thought???

If wanting fast assembly go for a Bombard 380, an electric pump and a Tohatsu 2 strokes 18 HP if available in your area, weights 41 Kg compared to 52 Kg of the 20 HP, with 11 Kg weight difference your back will be eternally grateful...

+1

If you're not going to use a trailer than an air deck is a big advantage and the Bombard V floor performs really well.

Those Tohatsus are pretty thin on the ground, but 15hp 2 stroke is a good alternative if you want portability. The 380 will take a 25 if you really want more power, but in my experience the extra weight is more hassle than it's worth.

If going for Tohatsu 2 strokes all 3 (9.9, 15 & 18) has exactly same 41 Kg weight portability, so go straight for the 18 if available. You can always throttle less with a 18 than throttling more which you can't with a 15 HP.

A 18 will move, push, plane any boat much better than any 15. We use 18 horses in all our 310 to 420 sib/ribs as standard. Boaters who were fanatic about their other brands 15 HP horses were surprised of the extra punch, speed, faster plane the 18 gives compared to.

Happy Boating
