actually John i use evian. I found distilled water was too much trouble. Sparkling ballygowan is quite good (contains co2 rather than oxygen) but a bit costly.

DON'T BOIL THE WATER - take my advice, not John's.

Boiling will destroy any flouride which may be present, so removing the added advantage that water which happens to splash on to the hull will help to keep it gleaming white.

Not a lot of use if you don't have a white hull though ...

it is a common mistake to think that fluoride aids the teeth whitening process, it doesn't - it simply strengthens the enamel and is much more effective when administered via the bloodstream rather than externally anyways. for external whitening i would recommend hydrogen peroxide. i thought you might know a bit about this allen, being in the 'trade' so to speak.
