Trailer VIN plate

If I was to replace the drawbar on my trailer would I legally be allowed to re attach the VIN (?) plate with all the weight details, year made etc?

if you do a proper job no one will ever know
anyway its only a "repair" like changing a landrover xmember outriggers etc so i cant see any problem.
