My dad, brother and I once looked into building a Lotus7 replica kitcar (Robin hood) and I remember there was something in the (then new) SVA test on height, viewing angle and even how far in from the edge of the main body the lights/brake/indicator had to be. I've been searching on the net to try and find this info out but with no luck so far. I don't know whether this will apply to trailers or not though. I'll let you know what I find out.
