breakdown direct looks decent but the policy doesn't mention they will recover if the trailer is the issue, i suspect they won't-

If the vehicle you are in breaks down while you are towing a caravan or
trailer, we will recover the vehicle and the caravan or trailer, as long as the
caravan or trailer is not more than:
• 8 metres long;
• 3 metres high; and
• 2.55 metres wide.

greenflag (with caravan club cover) will recover if the trailer is the issue and no limits on the trailer.

the AA policy is an option, means deflating tubes for some but worth doing to get recovery, i don't think they will recover if the trailer is at fault though?

The AA put my trailer on a flatbed when the wheel fell off and I drove the car home. They brought the boat & trailer right to my door .

i don't know when you had this but it doesn't seem to be covered now as their terms state-

"Breakdown assistance is only available for cars, vans, minibuses or motorcycles"

"Assistance will also be provided for a caravan or trailer which was on tow at the time of the breakdown"

https://www.theaa.com/resources/Docu...ns-current.pdf

perhaps the rules have changed recently with AA?

i am just going to join the caravan club for a month and get green flag i think. you don't need to stay a member to get the cover, only to get started you need a membership number.

RIBase
I've been an AA member for years and have just contacted them for clarification. As long as the trailer is attached to the car at the time of breakdown and falls within their load limits its covered for breakdown.

I asked when I took my greenflag policy out if the trailer will be fully covered and they said yes it comes as standard with the policy no need to join the caravan club. I put both myself and my mrs on personal cover so we are covered whatever vehicle we are in although all our personal and business vehicles are named on the policy

Can't fault them. Picked up a 7m rib on a flat bed after a bearing failure drove it to the door at home. Cheap as chips and excellent service 👍
