I had this problem on ians old trailer. I overcame the problem by using longer split pins but bending them banana shaped so they went in.

It worked better than the jubilee clips that Ian used

You can get em from Maplins for a tenner or even a big B and Q.

Their is a shop down here selling em off for a fiver if you want some I'll get them and post em up to you

Also you need to get a couple with brakes on so that the trailer has some static support. or else the boat will roll around on the castors all day after recovery

Thanks
Had a look at some in B&Q last night. Do you fit them complete with swivel? Don't suppose you have a photo of a trailer with them on.

You can get them without the Swivel if you want they are a Kwid or so chaeper. I think I might prefer em without.

I Haven't seen a boat with these sort of castors on but I have seen one of those good Belgian trailers with a similar arrangement but with pneumatic wheels

Thanks for all the advice. Went to boat show today determined to buy a trailer, and only found one. A west mersea model and the bloke on the stand could only manage a compliment slip with their website on it!!. Will still pursue converting the bin liner trailer, (which is illegal,) but will only be pulled half a mile to the so called slip about 3 or 4 times a year.
Did get quite excited by a 7.5/8 metre Rib Eye with a whacking great Yamaha on the back, but I suppose that's what boat shows are meant to achieve. If anyone knows about the boat I would appreciate comments.
