trailer

I would strongly suggest to replace any rope or equivalent by a steel chain, going from the bow eye down/back to the trailer.
When you pull your boat up, connect it to the bow eye when it can be done easily, then keep on winding until the chain length stops the boat.

One mistake is evident on your trailer : the bow eye must be level with the winch, not 8"above . You must raise the winch.

Could someone tell me how to raise the winch as there is no adjustment on the cross frame, only thing i can think is a new eye further down the bow or i could buy a taller winch frame, do they come in different heights any advice please.

Post a picture of the front of your trailer. If I remember correctly mine just needs 4x15mm nuts loosened and it will slide up and down.
