Towcar 2011 Winner

Just received my C/C Club mag and its feature is the top 50 2011 towcars

The overall winner was the VW PASSAT Estate 2.0 TDI Sport (168bhp).

Tows 1800kgs with towball limit of 90kgs.

Others to feature were the

L/R DISCO 3.0 (which of course won the heavyweight 1900+kgs section)

Volvo S60
Mondeo estate 2.0 TDCI
VW Golf 2.0 TDI

Ones to avoid

L200
Hyundai 1.7 CRDI

PMSL

don't worry I don't normally bother to open the books but the front page caught my eye.

It's all about the discounts for me to the RAC BREAKDOWN. Plus with that membership they pull any trailer home if needed, something they won't do on any other policy!!!

I have the saloon with dsg g/box, plenty of power but the suspension isn't great , it does @ 10 miles per litre of fuel empty & @ 7 miles per litre towing @ 550kg load

Without question better towing but I guess the test took in other factors such as fuel, cost as well as the cars overall qualities without towing too

You've gone all Eurozone on us!

It's a nice car to drive (probably about the equivalent size to an Audi A6). Loads of room for rear passengers, and nice finish (if a little plain) inside. Personally I'd choose the BlueMotion 2.0TDi (140) Sport (manual)... for obvious reasons.
Urban: 50mpg, Extra-Urban: 70mpg, Combined: 61mpg, CO2 emissions: 125 g/km
