Just thought i would throw my tow car into the mix. She has a towing capacity of 2100kg which should suit most ribs 6.5m or smaller



Its a 2003 merc e320 cdi estate. I use it everyday and it returns 40mpg+ on a run. I love the merc build quality and the silky auto box but what sets it apart from most is the self levelling rear suspension. Most of my towing involves my car transporter with car on top and a boot full of tools, spares and tyres. She never sits down and with big discs all round she brakes with ease.

Agreed that the E class is a lovely car. My wife has a E220 estate, which is a joy to drive, very smooth, economical and tows extremely well. Just a shame it isn't rated to tow 3500kg!

Current owner has just bought a limited edition soft top LR 90 Defender so comfort isn't his first priority! It's got the reversing camera, leather and everything else as well - even a "Music Server"!

My '05 Disco3 is the HSE and there is no difference internally (that I can see) to the RRS. It's got everything, and is, as you say, a very comfy place to sit! I believe it is just the body shell and a few "tweaks" that separate the RRS and Disco.

Is that the quoted figs from LR or real world?

Many cars and 4 x 4 are so far off real life figs that many reviewers are asking for a better system.

Had an LC4 Lancruiser 3.0 D4D new from 07 and not a peep out of it.

We have a D4 6sp & on a long run I can get it to 35mpg if I'm uber careful, towing the boat I get 24.

I've got an '05 D3 2.7 V6 diesel and it returns 21-23 mpg going back and forth to work (about 5 miles each way through country lanes) and creeps up to 27-32 mpg on longer motorway runs. All without a trailer.

That is a lot better than i expected, LC returns about 27-28 if i am sensible with the right foot, it's got 128,000 miles on now so just run in.
