Or you get a top spec Defender(?). press the "auto hitch" button & let the car get on with it...

.....meanwhile back in the other 99% of the towing world.....

You can get balls on magnetic based poles to give you vision of the hitch & balls' relative positions.

I just use the bow of the boat & the rear wiper hub to line mine up. Its accurate enough to get a "dink" from hitch & ball before the bumper gets involved....
