newly qualified driver-jetski tow.

Hello Ribsters,

Can anybody tell me what the law is for newly qualified drivers and towing?

My son is taking his driving test later this month and wants to know if he will be able to tow his Jet ski with his little Pug 106.

Pug Kerb weight is 815 Kg ( Don’t know the MAM) max unbraked towable load with the Pug is 400Kg and the Tigershark jetski and trailer weighs in at about 300kg with 30lts fuel. Will he be OK???

I have looked on the DSA web site…talk about gobaldegooke… I don’t understand it.

Simple answer is - yes.

On a post 1997 license, without additional testing, you can tow a small unbraked trailer that is less than 750kg, provided the car is rated to tow it.
