I called at Indespension today for a few bits and had a look at there new spec boat trailers with the none waterproof side marker lights fitted.
They ain't thought that through well then.

boat trailers in general arent well thought out - especially indespension ones! 'U'bolts, bolts, nuts and washers are all bzp instead of galv or stainless, the brake parts are all standard trailer parts - so not designed to resist salt water, the suspension drop arms arent galv so they rust for fun ... the list goes on!

I don't really think it's a case of them not being well thought out, but more of having to build to a price.

My superspeed is 19 years old, and the non waterproof side marker lights on the mudguards still work!

Other manufacturers are guilty of the same thing too tbh. Check out this Alko axle I changed on Saturday, the drop arms are pressed steel, so had rotted through and the arm had collapsed. It's a 1500kg trailer too...

Someone should manufacture a trailer specific for boats that has been well thought through, I would pay 30% more for a well speced water proof trailer.

Indespension are currently getting all their new lighting made at the moment will all be fully submersible. Their current setup is only in place due to the lack of time to get them through the type approval when it came in last year. Only downside at the moment I can see is that it will be all led which probably will cause bother with all modern cars. Not sure about others though.

Isnt it difficult for them to spec none corrosive materials due to the heat affect in galvanising & the different properties of stainless and ally

You rarely see stainless or ally ships so maybe the engineers know something more than we do

The SBS trailers that we supply now come with submersible LED lights as standard and I have not heard of anyone having any problems using them with modern cars.

You obviously didn't follow the LED light thread on here then ? Seems that lots of modern cars had issues.

LED problem is simple.

Did they or didn't they add a load resistor?

Much discussed on various D3 forums & apparently an issue on D4 & other vehicles - not just LR.
DISCO3.CO.UK - View topic - LED Trailer Board
Appears some have come up with a gizmo to stop it. Pity LR didn't do it.

Even with a load resistor?

My focus went nuts - then I added a couple of 15-ish Ohm resitors (I forget the exact value - but it's the next "standard" size up from 15ohm) - 7W wirewound resistor about 23p each from maplin.

Problem dissappears. (well, on the Focus at any rate)
