New roller trailer comments

Evening all
After my eventful purchase of a Bayliner complete with an illegal american unbraked trailer i posted regarding converting it to a braked roller type trailer.
However after visiting the boat show this weekend i saw this

EXT1800 : Extreme Trailers, Engineering for the 21st Century

Looks to be well made and put together with swing type bunks and plenty of support wheels.
Overall cost of mine to convert the axle to braked change the hitch and to convert to rollers was around £1450.
Just wondered if anyone has any experiance or opinions.
Thanks Pete

Cheers for the nod C2, much appreciated. We supply Indespension trailers at pretty good rates.

As for the Extreme trailer - I used to deal with Jamie et al, when I ran a couple of Indespension depots many lifetimes ago, and supply him trailers and running gear. He now makes his own trailers, which are excellent.

Top bloke, in my experience, and good product to boot.

Just see what's best suited to your needs, what comes with the best spec and, of course, the best suited to your budget. The rest of it's easy

Hugh Jardon had a new SBS trailer with an Avonride axle using sealed bearings. One side gave way when the trailer was just over a year old and he had to have a new axle for it. May have been an isolated incident, though.......

I'm not familiar with the Avonride axle, do they use the same "waterproof" (I use the term loosely) bearings as the AlKo? I wasn't convinced with the Alko bearings initially, as I've always had taper bearings, but they seem to hold up well. I always changed the taper bearings annually & did the same with the sealed bearings for the first couple of years, but I realised I was chucking perfectly good bearings away. The current ones have been in 3 years now, so I'll change 'em next year.

Yes, the same principle - the last ALKO ones I had were the same as a Vauxhall Vectra front wheel bearing.

I specified a 1500kg Avonride axle with taper roller bearings on a new CLH boat trailer, back in 2007. It's still on its original bearings, but they could do with being changed now. More than happy with that.

Does anyone know of Streamline trailers. They dont seem to have a web site and cant find much on the web about them.
Got the chance of a SL 20R Twin swing beam type 32 roller trailer for a decent price. Its rated to carry a 1300kg boat 1800kg gross.
When i phoned them today they were as helpful as a kick in the knackers and replied with we only build boat trailers for the trade.
I have since found out my boat is just under 1000kgs.
Hoping someone can help as i can fetch it tomorrow on my travels.

I've had a few dealings with Streamline Trailers over the years. Agreed, can be slightly robust, but do make a good product.

I service a lot of Laser SB3 (now SB20) trailers. The original ones were made by Streamline, but with with most things the manufacturing of them went abroad (Malaysia I think) due to costings.

They all ran on Indespension axles, with Knott running gear. The trailers are good in my opinion, I've seen some pretty old ones still going fine.

I'm guessing SL 20R means something like SL = Streamline 20= 2000kg GVW (appreciated you've stated 1800kg) R= rollers, or something like that?

Have you got a link to the trailer? Happy to tell you what I can see from any pics.
