I managed to get it for £300.

Likely to spend £150 max making it how it want.

Used THUNDERCAT trailers are like gold dust, reckon I've seen 2 for sale in the past year!

Got some quotes for brand new ones, cheapest was £860.

Once I can get hold of parts modifying the trailer will be easy and I'm making sure it's not going to be bodged.

I'll keep the thread updated with its progress

£51 for new extended drawbar, and raise bunks.

Includes all galvanising, welding and bolt holes!!

Result👍 much better than cutting & bodging. You're also adding value to the trailer.

Would that not depend on the age of the trailer. "Whole vehicle type approval" is a relatively recent addition to the EU's endless raft of directives and again, the law on HVTA relate to what's legal to sell as "new" and not what the road traffic act says you can tow on the road?

Assumed new ish but having said that if a mod fails no excuses in the eyes of the law that's why best talk to the manufacturer which in deed ended in a £50 fix within the law and much simpler.

Put all the new parts back on. Fitted perfectly which was good.

Boat now sits a nice distance from the car and I've adjusted the heights of the bunks to go as low as possible to leave space for the engine leg
These get transported with engines down.

Have left alittle room for adjustment when I get an engine sorted.

The boat sits and holds nicely with ratchet straps at the moment but at some point before adding an engine I want to fit a bow snubber to stop the boat moving fowards.

I was planning on welding or bolting another winch post closer to the nose cone with just a snubber on it.

why not fit a support leg and clamp for the snubber Luke then its adjustable i have done that for my light board they are used to stop trailers tipping when loading indespension sell them not expensive. looking good too.
