Galv. wheels are the best, why are they not available here????
You could get the wheels shot blasted then dipped in galvanise if there is someone local to you that do galvanising just make sure you take the tyres off first i'm thinking of doing it myself it wouldn't cost that much

How long do you reckon powder coating would last

Where theres a will and all that...

They were brand new so completly clean, I wrapped them in plastic bags (the wheels alone are quite small) and put one in Mrs Ribtecers suit case and one in mine.

My wife thought I was smuggling and wasn't too happy but all was well...

I then painted the fronts white and the backs black and undersealed the backs with waxoil, a bit over kill but as I say I want to fit and forget...

I thought about that but it would crack and therefore rust around the wheel nuts, and then you would have to start again.

If mine does I can easily rub that bit down and repaint, but I hope not having done all this.

I carefully painted the rims well under where the tyres are fitted, I then carefully selected a tyre centre where I explained my plan to the bloke that fitted the tyres and he was very careful. The paint inside the back of the rim was damaged from the clamps on the machine but that was easily taken care of.

The paint seal around the edge of the wheel where it meets the tyre was undamaged.

Like I say, small thing to get too excited about, but I am very pleased with the effect and it has been tried and tested now and all seams fine.

Guess so I have a spare set of D3 wheels with MTRs fitted for winter that I had powder coated and have lasted well but the holes have a steel insert so I guess the powder coat won't be touched
Anyway good choice of tow vehicle

I took some kit to be galvanised, they have a minimum charge for a set weight,£60 ish where i went,so take all three wheels anchor&chain and anything else you can pull off your rig easily to get your moneys worth..

Nothing, apart from that I thought that bigger is "safer", especially for long distance towing like, Scotland and Cornwall etc. Sometimes I do exceed the 60 mph limit although not intentionally

Powder coating is very durable, if you are worried about the ham fisted lads at quick fit/national tyres damaging new wheels, take them to a wheel refurbishers and ask them to fit the tyres.

I do this with my car wheels, I buy the tyres online and get my alloy wheel specialist to fit them. They know how to handle wheels.

Be very careful of re-galvanising anchor chain - it can be done but only by a limited number of companies - if its coated incorrectly you can end up with a solid "block" of chain and zinc
